As you can see there are tiny pores in the enamel of your teeth. Getting inside of these tiny holes to whiten the dentin underneath is the tricky part.

There are only 2 chemicals on earth that can whiten teeth: carbamide peroxide and hydrogen peroxide. Nothing else works, to oxidize down long yellow proteins inside your teeth into short white proteins. Baking soda and other abrasive products do not do this, although they may remove superficial stains.

This product keeps the teeth moist during the entire bleaching process, reducing sensitivity afterwards. It is a three step in-office process: First a barrier is painted on your gingiva to protect them. Secondly, a hydrogen peroxide solution in a gel tray is placed over your teeth and activated with a super violet LED lamp that actually has healing properties. It really feels like it is working. Lastly, after the peroxide has opened up the pores in the tooth enamel & whitened it, a second solution of carbamide peroxide is placed in the gel tray, which is able to penetrate into the tooth dentin and whiten it. The whole process takes about 45 minutes. It uses natural organic ingredients too.

Tooth Whitening at Our Office

This is Dr. Miles getting his teeth whitened at a dental seminar. The first photo was taken before his teeth were whitened. The second one is after treatment with the first hydrogen peroxide gel. The third is after treatment with the carbamide peroxide gel during the next part of the treatment. The whole process took about 45 minutes. The photos are unretouched.
